If your choice is directed towards L'Art de cuisiner, I recommend Messina in Marbella. Located on the main road just opposite the old town, it seems a bit out of place, as if it’s taken out of context. The large, glazed walls do not provide guests with any privacy, but it does not matter. From the moment when the first course enters the table, until we drink the last sip of wine, the world behind the glass panels loses its meaning.
There is
very small choice of dishes – but in reality only thing that matter is a
tasting menu, developed and looked after by the chef. Which means that
unfortunately you have to book a table in advance.
So
what's interesting in the menu?
The
dishes are inspired by the Orient, South America and, of course, local
Mediterranean cuisine. Even the tableware is dedicated to this restaurant and
its main idea - We mix !!
There
are no limits, no taboos! Let's experiment! This is the definition of creative
cuisine - or, as some people tend to argue - fusion
Everything is served in an exquisite way, sometimes a bit too ambitious in both the arrangement and the taste, but one cannot deny restaurant one thing - the rush to break the restrictions. By far the most interesting are fish. There’s no surprises here. It’s Spain after all.
And by
the way - I am extremely curious in which direction the chef's talent will develop
...
Finally,
important information - the restaurant boasts a Michelin star, so it's not
cheap, but ... if you're looking for something new and original, it's worth it.
And a word of caution - write down the name of the oil they use for dishes, it
is an absolute elite and it’s local.
What is
the conclusion of my visit to Messina? The one and unquestionable truth about
cuisine – it begins with high quality
ingredients and nothing will change it!
